Anderby residents were given less than 20 days to read and reply to the 774 pages of planning documentation about what NPower would like us to think of as the "Langham Windfarm". I've managed to have a quick look at it, and have come to the following conclusions:
In reality it's not a cuddly, rural, agricultural "wind farm", it's an industrial "wind power station".
A vast complex is planned occupying more than 150 acres of unspoiled farmland, historic hedgerows and copses, towering to a height of 416 feet over our famously flat landscape. By way of comparison, Tattershall Castle is 100 feet tall, Boston Stump 272 feet and Lincoln Cathedral 271 feet.
Although factually correct to describe the proposed development as being in Langham, it would be more honest to say that it will be less than a mile from the village of Anderby with its Medieval church, and less than half a mile from Anderby Creek with its renowned wide views of open countryside and the edge of the Wolds.
Two-thirds of the massive turbines are to be sited within the Coastal Conservation Area and the power station is close to two Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Furthermore I believe that this industrialisation will jeopordise the proposed Coastal Country Park which will run from Sandilands to Chapel Point - whose aim is to preserve our relatively unspoilt environment.
East Lindsey already has, or will have more than its fair share of wind turbines. Eventually we will be able to see six different sites, totalling in excess of one hundred constructions, from our local area. Enough is enough!
I understand that the following bodies are opposed to the scheme:
